Tunnel Boring Machine "Brenda" finishes first lap..
"Brenda" the TBM is digging two tunnels between Capitol Hill and downtown Seattle as part of the University Link light rail expansion. This week workers began dismantling her at the bottom of an 80' shaft next to the Paramount Theater. She'll be trucked back to Capitol Hill and start mining the second tunnel downtown early next year.

November has been hailed by Sound Transit officials as "a turning
point in the history of transit for Seattle's Eastside."
It is hoped that construction on the East Link can begin in 2015, with passenger services being launched in 2023.
